So what do we mean when we're talking about the cloud?

Cloud is a computing model providing web-based software, platforms and infrastructure resources on demand. If you use Gmail or Googledocs you’re using cloud-based systems – and not software loaded onto your PC, laptop or iPad. Cloud based computing  (also referred to as Software-as-a-Service) has been around for as long as the Internet has but advances in internet technology, server-virtualisation, processing speeds and memory capabilities have revolutionised possibilities.
