Cloud-based

So what do we mean when we're talking about the cloud?

Cloud is a computing model providing web-based software, platforms and infrastructure resources on demand. If you use Gmail or Googledocs you’re using cloud-based systems – and not software loaded onto your PC, laptop or iPad. Cloud based computing  (also referred to as Software-as-a-Service) has been around for as long as the Internet has but advances in internet technology, server-virtualisation, processing speeds and memory capabilities have revolutionised possibilities.

Convio’s products are all cloud-based - we manage the technology, freeing you to concentrate on fulfilling your mission rather than tying you down with application and server maintenance. You simply access and use the software through any web browser — any time, anywhere. And, there's no software to install or maintain, and no expensive hardware to purchase.

Cloud-based computing offers a number of benefits for charities like economies of scale – allowing you to run systems and benefit from skills you might not otherwise. This resource sharing enables remote working, freeing office space and mobile working when travelling. It also offers greater scalability, allowing organisations to cost-effectively increase capacity and can also be adopted gradually running alongside your existing on-premises IT.
