Overview
- Pancreatic Cancer UK provides support for people with pancreatic cancer and also undertakes campaigning and research is striving to double the survival rates from pancreatic cancer within 5 years.
Challenge
-
21 people in the UK are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer each day, yet to date it has not received the focus or funding of other more high profile cancers
-
Pancreatic Cancer UK needed a new online platform and support in using digital and social media to support its fundraising and campaigning activities and provide better information and support to patients and their carers
The solution
- Created a new, open source website which has been designed to convey both hope and support for all those affected and working with pancreatic cancer, giving clear calls to action and more easily accessible information.
- Improved main navigation and drop down menus make it easier for users to find their way round the site, and information has been streamlined to communicate simply and effectively the charity’s support services and work in improving treatment of the disease.
- Pancreatic Cancer UK’s all-important online discussion forum, a vital means of peer-to-peer support, can now be accessed easily.
- The website makes it easy for people to donate, find out about upcoming events and most importantly, seek information and support.
- Provided technical, creative and consultancy support on social media and digital marketing activity, particularly in the build-up to Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month and the release of the organisation’s Study for Survival.
Results
- The new website site was commended by Third Sector magazine
- Pancreatic Cancer UK now has a strong online presence and voice which belies the organisation’s size.
- Awareness of pancreatic cancer has been raised to such an extent in the public arena, that it has been regularly referenced in the news and even featured in a recent EastEnders storyline.
